The energy in the room was electrifying, and the crowd of nearly 100 people was even larger than anticipated. Local people interested in electing the Harris-Walz ticket shared their common interest as they enjoyed drinks, appetizers, and DNC programming throughout the night. Among the watch party attendees were Lyons Township Supervisor Chris Getty, State Senator Mike Porfirio, Judge Koula Fournier, and Judge Michael Chvatal who mingled with the crowd. Lyons Township Clerk Elyese Hoffenberg, Lyons Township Democratic Committeeman Steve Landek, Lyons Township Assessor Patrick Hynes, and President Sean Kirchman of the Young Democrats of Lyons Township, each spoke to the energized crowd about the work being done by the Democratic Party of Lyons Township and coalition partners to elect Democrats locally and nationally. Speakers for the Indivisible chapters similarly discussed the need to keep fighting and taking any action we can to ensure that the Harriz-Walz ticket wins in November. Attendees also had the chance to see the DPLT-created Harriz-Walz yard signs available for purchase on the DPLT website, giving Township residents the opportunity to showcase their support for Democratic candidates.

Finally, Vice President Kamala Harris took the stage amid roaring applause from both the DNC and watch party crowds. She spoke powerfully and eloquently about the needs of our country and how the next Harris-Walz administration will work to address them. The contrast between her and her anti-democracy, anti-choice, anti-union opponent couldn’t be any clearer. The energy behind Presidential Nominee Harris is overwhelming, and the Lyons Township Democrats thank everyone for joining us at the successful DNC watch party!
