Fall Fest Attracts Hundreds of Democrats

Fall Fest brings local Democratic officials together!

The Democratic Party of Lyons Township held their 2024 annual Fall Fest in Summit, Illinois on Saturday, September 14th at 11AM, drawing Democratic officials and a crowd of more than 300 local township residents to celebrate the impactful Democratic work being accomplished at the local, state, and national levels.

The family-friendly Fall Fest offered plenty of free food and drink options for all who attended. The aromas of freshly cooked La Chilanguita tacos and Lyons Democrats’ freshly grilled hamburgers and sausages filled the area.

After receiving their main course, attendees grabbed chips, chili, and the delicious, warm sugar and chocolate chip cookies that melted in your mouth from the nearby Talerico Martin Bakery. Adding to the dessert options, Maja’s Ice Cream handed out cones with scoops of fruity strawberry, rich chocolate, and creamy vanilla.

The Fall Fest also provided wine, beer, and an ice cooler filled with water bottles to ensure everyone could beat the heat. When attendees weren’t enjoying a delicious meal, they got their faces brilliantly painted, requested intricate balloon creations, decorated pumpkins in the Kid Zone, or enjoyed free bingo prizes in the forms of $25 and $50 gift cards to local businesses. Community members also appreciated the opportunity to meet with their local elected officials and learn more about ways to support our Democratic candidates as we head into the November 2024 Presidential General Election.

Some of the many officials that mingled with the enthusiastic crowd included Summit Mayor Sergio Rodriguez, Lyons Township Clerk Elyse Hoffenberg, Lyons Township Supervisor and Lyons Mayor Christopher Getty, Judge Koula Fournier, Judge Michael Chvatal, and candidate for judge Pat Heery (three of the event’s sponsors), and State Senator Mike Porfirio.

The Democratic enthusiasm was palpable, and it’s clear that community members are interested in electing passionate Democratic candidates committed to protecting our rights and improving our economy.
