Attorney General Candidate Kwame Raoul Visits Lyons Township

On Saturday June 16, Democratic Party of Lyons Township Committeeman Steve Landek hosted his State Senate colleague, Kwame Raoul on a tour of Lyons Township. Landek was an early and ardent supporter of Senator Raoul as the Democratic nominee for Attorney General. “Kwame does the hard work and legislation down in Springfield,” Landek said. “He’s a roll up your sleeves and get to work kind of legislator and someone we need in the Attorney General’s office.”

Senator Raoul kicked off the day at Al Bawadi restaurant in Bridgeview where he met with the Arab and Muslim American Democratic Club. Raoul and Landek had attended the EID celebration at Toyota Park a day earlier. Senator Raoul, who is the son of Haitian immigrants, spoke to the crowd there about the importance of the Attorney General’s office to protect immigrants’ rights.
From there, Senator Raoul visited Shiloh Baptist Church in Summit hosted by Summit Mayor Sergio Rodriguez. The next stop was Mollie’s Public House in Riverside where the Lyons Township Democratic Party, Democratic Party of Brookfield, and Indivisible Brookfield all met with Senator Raoul. State Representatives Lisa Hernandez and Mike Zalewski also attended.

Then, Senator Raoul visited the Second Baptist Church in La Grange and afterwards visited a few Downtown La Grange business establishments included Palmer’s, Fasano’s Pies, and Owl and Lark. The day ended with a cocktail reception in Western Springs and visiting Countryside Mayor Sean McDermott’s fundraiser at Flagg Creek golf course.

Senator Raoul said the energy of the day was incredible. “It was definitely a whirl wind but meeting with the voters of Lyons Township was great. I was happy to be given the opportunity to give my message that I will be the People’s Attorney General and the chance to earn their support and vote in the November election. This office is too important to let go to Governor Bruce Rauner’s hand-picked candidate.”

Committeeman Landek was proud of the day’s activities. “I think we were able to highlight the different communities of the Township and give them an opportunity to meet an outstanding candidate. Senator Raoul will be a great Attorney General and he’s a candidate that has appeal to the Big Tent of the Democratic Party.”

Senator Raoul was appreciative of his colleague’s enthusiastic endorsement. “It was a fun day. Steve isn’t kidding around when he says it’s going to be busy! But we had a good day and gained a lot of momentum and support.”
